Rear Admiral Farrokh Ahmad HI(M)


Rear Admiral Farrokh Ahmad HI(M) was commissioned in GL(Ops) branch in December 1983. He is winner of coveted Academy's Dirk from Pakistan Naval Academy. After earning his Bridge watch keeping from PNS TAIMUR,a Gearing Class Destroyer in 1986, he joined the elite Submarine Force in July 1987. He has served in capacity of Communications, Navigation and Weapons Officer onboard operational submarines from 1987 to 1994. He specialized in ASM(Sub-Surface) Course from France in 1992-93. His salient staff appointments include, Instructor and Divisional Officer in Pakistan Naval Academy, Directing Staff at Pakistan Navy War College and subsequently at Armed Forces War College, NDU. At Naval Headquarters, he has served as Director Submarine Operations during 2006-07. Admiral Farrokh had the honour of being the first Exective Officer of PNS/M KHALID (Agosta 90B) submarine during acquisition from France in 1998-99 and had the privilege of Commanding SHUSHUK and HURMAT respectively from 2003 to 2005. He is a graduate of 25 th PN Staff Course and Armed Forces War Course 2005-06. The Admiral served a brief stint as Commandant Naval War College, Lahore, before taking up assignment as Commander Submarines (COMSUBS) from Jan 10 to May 11. The Admiral was promoted in May 11 while holding the charge of COMSUBS, and appointed as Additional Secretary-III, MoD in Jul 11, looking after the affairs of Navy and Maritime Wing, in addition to Foreign Military Cooperation (FMC). He later served as Director General Joint Warfare & Training in Joint Staff Headquarters from Apr 13 until Feb 15. Later the Admiral was appointed as Flag Officer Sea Training before assuming command as Commander Karachi on 1 Dec 15. The Admiral is recipient of HI(M) for his meritorious services.

The Admiral regards Operational Art and Military Strategy as his favourite subjects. Learning Golf remains his unfulfilled ambition. He is happily married and blessed with two daughters.
